Abstract

A transportability study was conducted to determine how much of the content domain for secondary school teachers of English would be judged to be relevant to and important for the job of a licensed (certified) middle school teacher of language arts. The results of this study will be used to explore developing a Praxis subject-specific assessment for middle school teachers of the language arts based on content initially developed for use with secondary school English teachers. This report describes the methods used to create the Job Analysis Inventory for Middle School Teachers of Language Arts, the job analysis survey, and the statistical analysis conducted, and offers conclusions regarding the relevance of the secondary school content domain for newly licensed (certified) middle school teachers.
