Abstract

The report is divided into three parts--the first concerns the nature of treatment, the problems to which it is addressed, and the categories into which treatments can most conveniently be divided. The second section gives a brief description of the different techniques and systems which may be regarded as respectively medical or educational. The third part, which contains the bulk of the subject matter, focuses on the particular set of treatments called psychotherapy, presents an intellectual scheme for understanding them, and offers some description of the actual techniques and practices which characterise different schools and practitioners.
