Abstract

In an attempt to study the predictive value of the Miller Analogies test, it was given to 436 students along with the verbal and quantitative aptitude tests. Of these candidates, 149 also took the Advanced Physics test and 124 others took the Advanced Chemistry test. The raw scores and intercorrelations from these tests are presented in an accompanying table. It is noted that "the Miller Analogies Test does not reveal the differences in ability between physics majors and chemistry majors which appears actually to exist." The data also shows that "the relative effectiveness of the Miller Analogies and the aptitude battery as predictors varies with the subject being predicted."
