Saerhim Oh

Saerhim Oh is a research scientist in the Research Institute at ETS. She received her Ed.D. in applied linguistics with a specialization in language assessment from Teachers College, Columbia University. During her doctoral studies, she was a doctoral research fellow at ETS for three years, and she was the recipient of the Robert Lado Memorial Award for best graduate student paper at the Language Testing Research Colloquium (2017) and the recipient of the Jacqueline Ross Dissertation Award for best dissertation in language testing (2019). Prior to joining ETS in 2022, she was a senior test development manager on the Assessment Research Innovation team in the English Language Learning division at Pearson, where her research mainly focused on reliability and validity research on machine-scored language tests assessment speaking and writing proficiency in the workplace.

At ETS, Oh’s research focuses on the validity of the TOEIC® family of assessments, mainly on reading and writing, assessment of interactional communicative competence in written communication, and assessment of academic writing. Her publications include book chapters and articles in peer-reviewed journals such as Language Assessment Quarterly, Journal of Second Language Writing, Language Learning and Technology, and System.
