Ian Blood was an assistant research engineer at ETS in the AI Research Labs in the Research & Development division until April 2022. He received an M.A. in applied linguistics from Teachers College, Columbia University, in 2011 and a B.A. in French and African languages and literature from the University of Wisconsin–Madison in 2005. Prior to ETS, Blood spent 6 years teaching English to students of all ages in Chad, Japan, and New York City.
Blood’s work while at ETS focused on the development of automated speech recognition models for young English learners speech and educational applications of spoken dialog systems, particularly to meet the learning and assessment needs of young English learners in China. His professional interests included speech and natural language processing, machine learning, data science, and Python programming.
