Xuan (Adele) Tan is a director of psychometrics and data analysis in the Research & Development division at ETS. She earned her Ph.D. in educational psychology with an emphasis in measurement, evaluation, and cognition at the University of Alberta in 2006. She joined ETS as an associate psychometrician in 2006 in the Professional Educator Programs (PEP) group, where she worked on and later managed the national and state-customized teacher licensure programs including Praxis® assessments, the Texas Educator Certification Program, the Georgia Assessments for the Certification of Educators, and an array of performance-/portfolio-based assessment programs.
She currently manages the Graduate Admission Programs (GAP) and the College Programs statistical analysis groups, which include the GRE® General and Subject suite of tests, Major Field Tests, HEIghten® assessment, and ETS® Proficiency Profile. Her research interest includes mixed-format test equating, constructed-response scoring shift, and differential item functioning, on which she has published journal articles and research reports.
