Lixiong Gu is a director of psychometrics and data analysis with the Psychometric Analysis and Research group in the Research & Development division at ETS. He oversees the psychometric and data analysis work in support of the TOEFL® family of programs. His responsibilities include supervising the pretest and posttest psychometric analysis and special studies for operational programs and the psychometric work on developing new products related to TOEFL. Before joining the TOEFL team in 2014, he was a psychometric manager in K–12 overseeing the California Standardized Testing and Reporting (CST) program. He also oversaw the psychometric work for the California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE) and the California English Language Development Test. Before that, he was the statistical coordinator for CST, CAHSEE, and the Qatar Comprehensive Educational Assessment. He also worked on Georgia End-of-Course Tests and Oklahoma Core Curriculum Tests.
Prior to joining ETS, Gu was a graduate assistant at Michigan State University. He earned a Ph.D. in measurement and quantitative methods from Michigan State University and master’s and bachelor’s from Beijing Normal University in China.
