Eugenio Gonzalez is a principal research project manager in the Center for Global Assessments in the Research & Development division at ETS. As such, he oversees the International Association for the Evaluation of Educational Achievement (IEA)/ETS Research Institute and the development of data analysis tools for using international large-scale assessment databases. In addition, he is responsible for training activities and technical documentation for the Programme for International Student Assessment and the Programme for the International Assessment of Adult Competencies, serves as a consultant to several ministries of education around the world, and is a senior statistics and psychometric advisor to the IEA.
He formerly served as the director of operations and quality control for the National Assessment of Educational Progress and director of international operations and data analysis in the international study center at Boston College. In this role, he oversaw the development of operations procedures and manuals, scaling, estimating standard errors for complex samples, development of systems for reporting results, and all other aspects of data analysis and computing for the Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study and the Progress in International Reading Literacy Study.
Gonzalez received a Ph.D. in educational research, measurement, and evaluation in 1994 from Boston College. In 1986, he received an undergraduate degree in psychology from the Universidad Catolica Andres Bello in Caracas, Venezuela.
